Upperclassman English with Mrs. Donahue- Last month our class was fortunate enough to start a multi-visit job-skills class run by Nina Pennacchio, a Connecting Activities Career Specialist from the North Shore Career Center in Lynn. During her visits Nina has taught students how to make the most of their resume as well as the specific social and interactive skills needed in job interviews, customer service, and interacting with co-workers and supervisors positively and effectively. After midterm exams Nina will be returning for mock job interviews in order for students to practice the skills they have learned. Students report that in her interactive lessons they have learned valuable new skills that will be valuable as they apply for summer employment and start to embark on their post-secondary plans.

The Interact club sponsored an Ethiopian Coffee Presentation and Sale by Miriem and Bake Sale with student baked goods in the Rotunda Art Gallery outside of the art room D106 on Wednesday, Jan l8 at 7:30 am. The funds raised will be used to send educational books to a school where there are few books and any remainder will go to Barka, the African Clean Water Agency in Burkina Faso, Africa.

Swampscott High School Chorus had a wonderful performance December 15th during the Holiday Concert and Art Show! The performance finished off with a great arrangement of Skyfall which combined Chorus with SHS Band.

Congrats to Chorus members Joshua Badal-Rodrigues, Nate Ryan, Tenley Seidel, and Charlotte Westhoven on being selected to perform at the Massachusetts Northeast District Senior Music Festival! Their concert is Saturday January 14th at 1 p.m. in Durgin Hall on the UMass Lowell campus. Nate Ryan also received an All State Chorus audition recommendation, and will be auditioning for the Massachusetts All State Chorus on January 21st. Good luck Nate!

Mock Trial's first competition is January 23rd at the Salem Housing Court at 1:30pm. Please make sure students have returned their permission slips.

The science team continues its winning streak by placing second in the Gene Editing event at our last meet! We're a share a love of science and a love of fun! Feel free to join us!
