Principal's Update 

I want to congratulate all the members of the Swampscott High School Chorus, Swampscott High School Concert and Jazz bands for a spectacular performance at last night's Holiday Concert. I want to thank band director Mr. Edi Rovi and chorus director Mr. James Pearse for their hard work and dedication to their students.

A reminder that winter break starts next Friday December 23rd at the close of school. School will re-open on Tuesday January 3rd at the usual time. On behalf of myself, my administrative team, and the entire faculty and staff we hope that you can enjoy this time with friends and family and enjoy some well deserved time off.

The 2017 plunge benefits the Swampscott School District’s newly created SWIFT and HARBOR Programs and The Russell J. Hopkins Children’s Fund. Sports Updates 

Boy Track Vs. Gloucester (12/12/16)

Swampscott 57, Gloucester 29
The Big Blue dominated the field events, with Joseph Varghese taking first in the high jump (5-8) and Dave Quill winning the shot put (40-10). Varghese also won the 55 hurdles (9.3). Devin Denham won the 600 for Swampscott (1:36.4) and Patrick Doucette won the 2-mile (11:28.5).
The Black and Blue wrestling team showed tremendous effort in their meet against NEC champ Danvers this past Wednesday. Senior Stephen Hopkins won his match as did senior Joe Warren. The team will participate in the Lisitano tournament tomorrow in Wakefield, and in Salem next Wednesday.

Girl's basketball - take on Winthrop tonight at SHS tonight

Girls Hockey - The Division 1 girls co-op ice hockey team is represented by three Big Blue sophomores, Sydney Cresta, forward, Caroline Kinne, defense and Sarah Ryan, goalie.  The team kicked off the season with a home opener loss to Masco. Cresta scored the only goal for the co-op and drew 4 penalties.  Kinne was strong on the penalty kill all evening, then ironically took a roughing penalty defending Ryan during a scrum in front of the net. Wednesday night the team took another loss this time against Winthrop.  Cresta and Kinne worked hard on the penalty kill and power play, both girls again logging heavy minutes in the game. Ryan had 26 saves to keep the game close.

Boys Basketball - take on Winthrop Friday, December 16. 
 Home opener on Sat. night Dec. 10th a 46-43 non-league loss to Amesbury. Sr. Capt. AJ Venuti led the Big Blue with 10 pts., 7 rbnds., and 2 stls. Jr. Fwd. Noah Carreiro came off the bench to score 9 pts. and grab 8 rbnds. On Tues. Dec. 13 the Big Blue lost at Georgetown 66-55. Jr. Fwd. Tony Broadnax came off the bench to score a team high 17 pts, along with 4 assts. Fwd AJ Venuti hit for 11 pts. along with 3 assts. and 2 stls.

Swimming- Two meets this week
-Home vs Peabody. Peabody won.
Will Cronin won the 100 FR and 100 BK
Tessa Diaz won the 50 BR
-Away vs Malden. Malden won.
Great exhibition vs a team out of our conference. The team tried their best against a really good team.
Boys Hockey open the season Saturday 12/17 vs Rockport 6:00 pm at the O'Malley School in Gloucester
